BYTELOCK is an innovative augmented reality business card designed to make introductions more memorable and impactful. Rather than simply handing someone a traditional card, scanning it brings a 3D model to life right above the card's design, creating an immersive experience.
This interactive feature provides a fun and engaging way for people to learn about me, showcasing how augmented reality can transform a simple, everyday object into something much more dynamic and attention-grabbing. BYTELOCK highlights the potential of AR to elevate communication, making each interaction more memorable and meaningful.
Developing BYTELOCK was a rewarding learning experience. I used Unity and Vuforia to turn a simple name card into an interactive AR display, starting with sketches and refining a 3D model through AI-assisted designs. Integrating the model and animations taught me how design and AR tracking work together to create a more engaging way to introduce myself.
The biggest challenge was creating the 3D model. I only learned the basics, like cutting and shaping objects, but not the more advanced techniques such as adding textures or modelling human forms. I relied heavily on YouTube tutorials and used AI tools to turn my sketches into clearer visual references. This helped me understand how to refine the model and bring the AR experience to life.
